Mt Thielsen viewed at the Diamond Lake viewpoint
Mt Thielsen viewed from Diamond Lake accessed when traveling the Rogue Umpqua Mountains, volcanoes and mountain lakes: the Cascade Mountains of Oregon. Drive up the hill to Diamond Lake viewpoint off the Rogue Umpqua Scenic Byway, and find Mt Thielsen to the south southwest, and Mt Bailey to the west with Diamond Lake glittering in the foreground. Also, find a few picnic tables, a vault toilet and other views. This is a nice little spot. The most spectacular views of Mt Thielsen are available from the hiking trail. If you're heading east from Roseburg and stop or see the turnoff to the Diamond Lake viewpoint, you will find the trailhead for the Mt Thielsen hiking trail a little further down the road. I can't say how far exactly. It will be on the left if you're heading east, and on the right if you're heading west. If you come to the north entrance to Crater Lake National Park, you've gone too far.
