Hiking TrailsWarm Springs Waterfall in the Umpqua National ForestThe hiking trail to Warm Springs Waterfall is an easy walk. I'd scarcely call it a hike. Be wary though when you come to the gorge, there is no guardrail. Brad took this picture, climbing over the edge; he's part mountain goat. | |
Directions for the hiking trail to the waterfall:Turn north off the Rogue Umpqua Scenic Byway, Hwy 138, at milepost 72.8 onto Road 2610, the Lemolo Lake Road. Follow for aproximately 4.5 miles, crossing the dam, and bear left onto 2610-600, the Birds Point Road. Drive approximately 3 miles to the junction with 2610-680, turn left and go approximately 1.25 miles to trailhead for Warm Springs Hiking Trail, #1499 on the left, (the distance 1.25 miles comes from the Umpqua National Forest website.) The brochure, Thundering Waters produced by the Umpqua National Forest, the Roseburg BLM and the city of Roseburg states the distance not as 1.25 miles but 1.7 miles. The trail is an easy walk, .3 mile. Like Toketee Waterfall, Warmspring falls over a cliff of columnar basalt. The geology is beautiful. If you get there at the right time in June, the trail will be blanketed by wild blooming rhododendrons. The first time we did this hike, we went on June 8th and the forest was full of rhododendrons. Oftentimes they bloom later, however. Sorry, I can't be anymore precise. Be aware. There is no guardrail just a sheer rock bluff.Forward ~ Wild and Untamed: Lemolo Waterfalls. Back ~ Clearwater Waterfall. USFS: Umpqua National Forest. Plan your visit to the many waterfalls and hiking trails in the Umpqua National Forest.
