Access Highway 36 off Highway 99W just north of Junction City, south of Eugene, Oregon, as described in the Road Less Traveled page of this site. At Mapleton, a mere 15 miles from Florence, you'll find opportunities for hiking and waterfalls on Sweet Creek. Travel to the beach, head north or south. North for Heceta Head Lighthouse, the myriad scenic and hiking opportunities, nature talks, old growth forests, camping and picnicking at Cape Perpetua. Just drive, stopping
whenever you see something that takes your fancy, and believe me, you will. If you choose to drive south
from Florence, you'll find the National Dunes Recreation Area offering off road vehicle use,
camping, old growth forests, rivers, lake, wetlands, hiking trails, the opportunities are many.
