So close to the Willamette Valley and accessible to many; still this route can be leisurely. None of the rush of having someone driving on your tail when you're wanting to look around. Take your time. There are many vistas. Not the least being panoramic views of mountains as you're nearing the Santiam Pass, Oregon Hwy 22. By then you've left Quartzville Creek Scenic Byway behind, and you're in National Forest land, the Willamette National Forest. Expect to be dazzled the entire route.

Dogwood Picnic Area: Quartzville Road at milepost 18 Offering vaulted toilets and garbage service.

Yellowbottom Campground: River Access Parking Area Offering vaulted toilets and garbage service. Campground charges a user fee. Yellowbottom Campground is closed in the winter months.

As stated earlier, gold panning is always an option. Contact the Salem District Office of the BLM, 503-375-5646, for Information and Permits.
