This photograph of the Deschutes River, not looking so wild and scenic here :-), was taken from a viewpoint encountered after walking around "Big Red" to stand on a paved portion of the Deschutes River hiking trail, which continues on from this point in either direction. If you look in the distance in the photo, you can see Newberry Caldera with Paulina Peak, looking quite insignificant. What a difference a little distance makes.
