Benham Falls, managed by the Deschutes National Forest, is included in the Newberry National Volcanic Monument ... so much to do in such a small area! Newberry Crater, Paulina and East Lakes, Paulina Creek Waterfalls, the Big Obsidian Lava Flow, Lava Cast Forest, Lava River Caves, Lava Butte - Lava Lands, hiking trails, Benham Falls seen on the hiking trail of the wild and scenic Deschutes River and perhaps more of which I am unaware. :-)

The Deschutes River hiking trail accommodates both hikers and mountain bikers. The trail is wide, remnants of what appears to be an old forest service road or something else like that. The trail is marked by forest and open spaces through which it's possible to see the river. Wildflowers bloom along the way, and the "waterfalls" or "rapids", whatever you might choose to call them, make a spectacular site.

Directions to Benham East Day Area, where it's possible to connect with the hiking trail on the Deschutes River, as well as picnic. Find also a boat ramp.
