Butte Creek Waterfalls in Butte Falls, Oregon
I have always enjoyed our visits to the town of Butte Falls. Yes, it is very small, but it's characterized by forest service dwellings and other buildings constructed in the early 1900s, as well as the little park in the middle of town. I just like it. And that's not counting Butte Creek waterfalls. :-) The road to to the waterfalls passes a transfer station, and then begins the descent into the gorge for the creek. This is a dirt road and one lane. It's only suitable for a car or truck. It would not be practical to try and drive down it with a camper/trailer. Immediately upon reaching the base of the hill, you'll arrive at a parking area. Park and walk directly to the overlook for the waterfalls. Downstream from the waterfalls, you'll find a few pullouts for picnicking/camping. As I said, the roads are dirt, and not all that good. Unless you want to sleep out under the stars, the only reasonable way one can camp down here is with a tent.
