Camping at Fern View, a Campground overlooking the South Santiam River found on the Over the River and through the Woods Scenic Byway in the Cascade Mountains of Oregon.

The campsites at Fern View are located on a ridge overlooking one of the most beautiful views of the south Santiam River. It's located 23 miles east of Sweet Home. To get there simply travel east on Hwy 20 for 23 miles to Fern View Campground. Use is moderate, surprisingly so to me, for this is one of my favorite campgrounds on the Over the River and through the Woods Scenic Byway. Fern View is open from May through October for both camping with a 14 day limit and day use picnicking. There are 11 camping sites: 9 tent, auto, or small RV sites; 2 tent only sites (sites 10, 11) supplemented with vault toilets and handpumps for water. The maximum trailer length is 22'. Overnight Fees: $10.00, and $5.00 per extra vehicle. Enjoy camping, fishing, hiking and swimming. Rooster Rock Trailhead across Hwy 20 is a portal to the Menagerie Wilderness, and the Old Santiam Wagon Road runs through the back of the campground. If you just want to spend the day hiking trails in the Menagerie Wilderness, Fern View Campground offers one site for Day Use.
