... we pulled off the road on the way to Taylor Lake ...I can't say for certain if you're looking at the Salmon or the Marble Mountains here. Nor can I say, for our purposes, that it really matters. The road to the trailhead at Taylor Lake is gravel, it climbs steadily, and is narrow and winding. Pretty much a standard road to a trailhead in a mountainous region. :-) However, it's not long, as can be seen from the photographs above and below, the views are spectacular. | |

Travel northern California. See the Marble Mountains, the Salmon Mountains, the beautiful Salmon River, Sawyer's Bar, the best living mining town, the magnificent Salmon River Gorge. Raft the river, try your hand at mining and/or fishing. Hike the Russian Wilderness in the Klamath National Forest. Or simply enjoy yourself sightseeing. |
