The past, a wild and raucous history of men and women bound to the search for gold, making itself known on the outskirts of Callahan, California.

The cabin marks a junction of sorts. Just a hop, skip and a jump from the eastern boundary of Callahan proper, it is an approximate marker for the for the turnoff for the beautiful journey along the south fork of the Salmon River, and the turnoff to Trinity Lake and Weaverville. Both are marvelous drives, but our route is west to Callahan, onto Etna, and then the north fork of the Salmon River and Sawyers Bar. :-)
